You never feel compelled to do anything by the book and every session you play, you’ll find yourself concentrating on a new part of the game, continually getting distracted by something else along the way. Save for the combat, Just Cause 2 is everything we hoped the original was going to be – which is surely reason enough for you and Rico to get reacquainted.

This sequel to PS2's excellent Wild West outing looks like being a superb open-world experience in the beautiful expanses of the western frontier.

Has just enough changes, including the amazing online co-op, to keep this feeling new while drawing heavily on all the good in RE4. A Gold Edition that includes DLC content will be available in 2010.

Based on the film and small press comic book Scott Pilgrim, hopefully this will take advantage of all the gaming culture that the series is steeped in when it comes to XBLA.

It doesn't matter if you like Tomb Raider or if you can only play alone in this co-op focused, twin-stick shooter. Lara Croft is pure fun, deftly combining puzzle platforming with tactical top-down shooting.

Halo fans rejoice! RTS fans grieve!

The mysterious new Halo title is rumored to be a prequel showing how the war between Earth and the Covenant began.

With a huge collection of cars, years worth of playability, some of the deepest driving around, and real inroads to casual acceptance, Forza 3 is one of the best games in its field and in general.

It’s messy fun that slightly under-delivers. The episodic, reality TV conceit feels tacked on (with the sound turned off, you’d mistake it for a standard racer), but thankfully it’s so flimsily attached that it’s irrelevant and spoils nothing. Consequently, Split/Second is better than Hollywood, less impressive than Burnout and more amusing than both of them.

More maps, more enemies, more weapons, more glorious spectacle than the original, and that’s just the co-op. Fresh versus modes and intense violence make this the apocalypse to beat.

While it’s an improvement over the first game, Kane & Lynch 2’s high production values and streamlined focus are overshadowed by its thudding repetition, narrowly linear design, five-hour campaign and hugely unappealing protagonists. It’s still a decent shooter, but it’s definitely not for everyone.

Adding support for a second drum pedal and finally placing multiplayer meters in plain view, Guitar Hero: Metallica is more metal than mecha-godzilla holding a bag of spoons while scaling a skyscraper.
